Replacing those previous top-end limits now, in the RTX 3080 tier, are a higher resolution of 2560x1440 at up to 120 FPS. Gone is GFN's previous limit of 1920X1080 FHD resolution running at 60 frames per second. Announced last week, NVIDIA is bringing a whole new tier of graphics horsepower to its service, dubbed GeForce NOW RTX 3080. ![]() I don’t think in single player it’s enough to bother me, but I wouldn’t want to play a competitive shooter on the 3080 tier unless it was at 120 FPS with the lower latency.NVIDIA's GeForce NOW is not a new product, but today the company's game streaming service is expanding in a couple of key ways to bring more performance and better visuals to gamers everywhere. The input latency is definitely better, but it’s still there somewhat. ![]() On the Shield TV Pro at 4K 60 FPS, I would definitely say it looks as good as Series X with a higher framerate. It was less distracting at 120 FPS, but still made the experience feel less smooth compared to local. Another issue is hitching/dropped frames, still happens and might be worse right now with high demand for few servers. For static elements like menus and maps, you won’t be able to tell the difference, but running around you will start to notice some streaming artifacts. The streams can still look pixelated/blurry at times but 1440p streaming looks much better than HD. I tried Destiny 2 and Planetside 2 and both were near local in my opinion. 120 FPS streaming on PC has impressively low input latency, just enough to be competitive I would say. The 3080 tier is definitely a significant improvement in input latency. I have a PC with 2080 Super and a Series X and PS5 as well. I’d much rather play a game set on low graphics and get high frame rates and low latency than play a game that looks great but runs terrible and is hard to navigate due to input lag. Is the input lag truly a thing of the past, making competitive multiplayer gaming on the cloud viable? I don’t really care about the graphical upgrades. Now that normal everyday people are starting to use the 3080 service I’d like to get real world opinions. However, I’m skeptical that this could be false, or maybe they’ve had better experiences due to the fact that it was early access so the superpods weren’t overloaded with users. Most of the reviews I’ve seen from people with early access say the input lag is no longer an issue. My biggest issue with cloud gaming was the input lag was always noticeable which is a total deal breaker for me. I’m a console gamer and have had a high end gaming PC with a 2080 super. I would love to hear from anyone/everyone that has had access to the 3080 tier on their experience with input lag.
